Chelsea defender playing for England

The Chelsea star followed his brother Nathaniel in playing for England, becoming the twenty-first pair of siblings to be selected for the England side.

The Chelsea defender is likely to be added to the Three Lions selection to fill in for injured Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is scheduled to link up with the national side for England's last World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, although it has not yet been made public.

The Three Lions have already qualified for next summer's competition.

Chalobah earned his initial call-up under England manager Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then made his debut against the Senegalese team.

In the month of September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unlucky to be omitted from the team for qualifiers against Serbia and Andorra, and also didn't call him up for the next October fixtures.

Tuchel has been an significant influence in Chalobah's progress, having given him his Chelsea first appearance in 2021.

Chalobah has played in almost every matches for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the club occupying third spot in the Premier League, in the EFL Cup last eight and in the group stage of the Champions League.

Guehi picked up a injury to his foot in Crystal Palace's Conference League win over the Dutch side recently.

There are likely to be further additions to the squad. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has said that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) will withdraw from the squad.
